The ideal recipe for St Patrick's Day! Soda bread is enjoyed throughout Ireland. It is quick to make because it rises with bicarbonate of soda and baking powder, without baker's yeast. Flour, bicarbonate of soda, salt and buttermilk form the traditional base. This version combines wholemeal flour, white flour, buttermilk and egg. Buttermilk is a fermented milk.
